Apex Construction was engaged to deliver comprehensive exterior envelope construction services for a large, modern senior living community in Charlotte, North Carolina. The facility features approximately 264 luxury apartment homes and supports Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care residents within a single

integrated campus.

The project required durable, low-maintenance exterior systems appropriate for a senior living environment, with careful attention to moisture control, life-safety detailing, and long-term performance.

Exterior Envelope Construction

• Installation of complete exterior wall assemblies across multiple buildings

• Coordination of envelope systems across Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care wings

• Execution aligned with long-term operational requirements of senior housing

Cladding Systems Installed

• Siding systems across primary elevations

• Fiber-cement and composite siding assemblies 

• Integrated trim and attachment systems

• Stucco wall systems at select architectural features

• Thin stone veneer at accent and feature areas

All cladding systems were coordinated to ensure aesthetic continuity, durability, and compatibility with underlying air and moisture control layers.

Air Barrier & Moisture Management Systems

Apex installed a fully integrated exterior envelope assembly designed to protect resident health, building durability, and long-term asset value:

• Fluid-applied air barrier system

• Weather-resistive barrier (WRB)

• Drainage plane detailing

• Lath and substrate preparation where required

• Integration at windows, doors, transitions, and penetrations

Special attention was given to continuity at unit transitions and common areas to ensure consistent performance across the campus.
